The Library currently has five different types of e-readers that patrons can check out for two-week periods. You may renew the e-reader up to two times, as long as another patron isn’t waiting on it.
- iPad 2
- First generation Kindle
- Kindle Fire
- Sony e-Reader
- First edition Nook.
All of our digital readers come deregistered so you can create the necessary account to register the device to yourself for the duration of your loan. Registering the device to yourself allows you to treat the device as if it’s yours so you can fully experience what it is like to have one. However, keep in mind that the library is not responsible for your use of or activity with the device and any items you put on the device will be immediately deleted upon your return of the device.
The checkout process is a bit different than it is for books and other materials and requires you to complete a short form indicating that you assume responsibility for the device while it is in your possession. The form is very brief and should take no more than 2 or 3 extra minutes of your time to complete the checkout. The form does require an Identification number, so be sure to have your driver’s license or other type of valid identification with you if you plan to checkout an e-reader.
