MySpace Visual Quick Tips
004.678 MCFE

Remember:
SAFETY FIRST!

Don't give out personally identifying information such as your address, phone number,
or school.
Everything you put online CAN be shared with millions of total strangers (or even with your parents!). There ARE bad people out there, so don't share private info that makes you easily identifiable to strangers.

Consider setting your page to "private," and use the setting that allows you to approve comments before they are posted. The pictures and comments you post today immediately become public information, and may be out of your control forever. Yep, forever.

If you come across information or pictures that make you upset or uncomfortable, close or get away from that web page immediately.

Talk to your parents about MySpace. Help them understand it so they will know they can trust you to make smart decisions.

Don't believe everything you see or read. People online may not be who they say they are.

Never agree to meet someone in person that you first "met" online without getting permission from your parents first.

IF you do plan to meet someone, make sure it is in a public place, and bring a parent or other trusted adult along! If things don't go as you expected, you don't want to wind up dealing with some creepy or weird person all by yourself.

Have fun, but be smart
and careful -
stay safe!!
